Last month, AAD tabled at three fairs across three boroughs— the NY Art Book Fair, NYC Anarchist Book Fair, and inaugural ABC No Rio Zine Fair! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and helped us raise more than $1000 for the Coalition to Protect Chinatown & LES, Brooklyn Jail Support, and other mutual aid efforts in NYC and Gaza. We invited filmmaker Suneil Sanzgiri to join us at NYABF, where we also sold keffiyehs, tatreez, and other goods from Palestine Handmade to support artisans in the Occupied West Bank.
Tomorrow (10/15) at 2pm, pack the court for NYCHA tenants fighting the demolition of their homes! Donations to their legal defense fund will also be matched through their court date.

While Eric Adams may have dropped out of the mayoral race, his proposed changes to the City Charter will be on the ballot this November. Disguised as measures to fast-track “affordable” housing, Ballot Proposals 2–4 will hand the mayor significant power over a wide range of land-use decisions, likely leading to more displacement and luxury development. We urge you to vote NO! Village Preservation will be hosting a virtual town hall on the ballot proposals tomorrow (10/15) at 6pm; RSVP here.

On September 30, despite overwhelming community opposition, a Community Advisory Committee voted to advance the Metropolitan Park casino project in Flushing to the state Gaming Commission, which will award three downstate casino licenses by the end of the year. Sign a letter to the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board and Gaming Commission demanding that they STOP a casino and luxury hotel from being built on on public land (Flushing Meadows Corona Park).Community members are also invited to share their concerns at an Anti-Casino Town Hall this Sunday (10/19) at the Muslim Center of New York; RSVP here.
