DAY of RAGE: Thursday, June 10Good news from Albany! Tenant uproar has successfully blocked the Blueprint yet again. But the fight is certainly not over. We need to build power to demand that we fund public housing with public money so we can guarantee the continued autonomy and existence of NYCHA. We already have affordable housing for 1 in 15 New Yorkers, preserving and repairing it ASAP must be a top priority. We need to stop RAD, the privatization scheme already underway across the city. The Chu family, the biggest landlords in Chinatown, have forced the beloved Jing Fong restaurant to close, and refused offers from the community to take over the restaurant operations. Alex and Jonathan Chu are putting their own profit first, ripping out the heart of Chinatown, and destroying the only union restaurant jobs in the entire neighborhood. Moreover, Jonathan Chu is the co-chair of the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) which accepted Mayor de Blasio's bribe of $35 million to support the new jail proposal. In the midst of heightened racism and anti-Asian violence, it is shameful for the Chu family to sell out Chinatown and the Lower East Side. BOYCOTT CHU'S BUSINESSES--EASTBANK, 50 BOWERY HOTEL, MOCA, CHIKARASHI, NAKAJI, until they meet the community's demands:
----> reopen the Jing Fong dining room -
----> return $35 million to fund recovery of workers and small businesses hardest hit by the pandemic

AAD's NYC Democratic Primary Elections Cheat Sheet
The AAD elections subcommittee created a "Cheat Sheet" for the Democratic Primary election (June 22, with early voting Saturday, June 12 to Sunday, June 20) and an explanation on how RANKED CHOICE VOTING works. These slides were primarily made for social media and you can check them out and join a lively discussion here and here.Our decisions were broadly motivated by our goal to stop the real estate lobby's control of NYC politics. We looked at fundraising data and stances on housing, land use, and policing, among other things. A detailed (and chaotic) spreadsheet can be found here for a deeper dive.This is an important election and many things that are meaningful to us are on the line. PLEASE VOTE!Note: Not all City Council races are covered. We attempted to focus on the districts that our members live in. If there is a race that's important to you that we missed, please reach out via social media and we can point you to other sources.
