Happy June! As is the case on the second Tuesday of every month, we are meeting this evening, 6:30–8pm, at Various/Artists (19 Essex St). We’ll hear from an autonomous group of neighbors that has been doing immigrant community defense on Canal Street, and may once again wrap up early to wheatpaste in the vicinity.

Letter against SFAC cuts

A former AAD member who now works at the San Francisco Arts Commission is seeking signatures for a letter demanding the restoration of core personnel. We encourage everyone who cares about public funding for living artists to sign the letter before it gets delivered to the mayor’s office this week.
Walkthrough of Mulberry Bend

Thank you to everyone who joined a walkthrough of Mulberry Bend with curator Dylan Seh-Jin Jim on May 31st! We discussed the neighboring megajail, which the city plans to complete in 2032 despite widespread community opposition; the Bigger Better Bottle Bill, which unfortunately did not pass this legislative season; and the reproductive labor of home care workers, who continue to demand passage of the “No More 24” Act, which would ban 24-hour shifts in NYC.
Support immigrant families at Delaney Hall

The hunger and labor strike at Delaney Hall, the largest immigrant detention center on the East Coast, continues into its third week. Cosecha New Jersey is encouraging people to donate directly to impacted families through this page, which includes multiple GoFundMe’s, a rental assistance fund, and a Delaney Hall emergency support fund.
