In conjunction with the exhibit, Not For Sale: Material Traces of Protest in Chinatown & LES, 2002–Present, please join organizers from the Coalition to Protect Chinatown & LES for a teach-in about the Chinatown Working Group Rezoning Plan on Tuesday, May 23rd, at 6:30pm. This teach-in will provide an overview of the CWG Plan, which would safeguard the community against displacement and predatory development, and offer concrete ways for you to contribute to the growing movement behind the plan. The teach-in will take place at Citygroup at 104b Forsyth Street, and participants are welcome to browse the exhibition shortly before and after the discussion.
Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce that Not For Sale has been extended by another week! Art Against Displacement will offer a special walkthrough of the exhibit on Saturday, May 27th, at 1:30pm. The walkthrough will commence at the picket in front of the Museum of Chinese in America (215 Centre Street) and end at Citygroup, a ten-minute walk from MOCA — drawing a direct line of connection between Not For Sale and on-the-ground organizing in Chinatown. Local activists will provide an overview of the history and demands of the MOCA picket, which has persisted several times a week for more than two years.
